Investing in a jogging stroller or all-terrain stroller is a smart way to sneak in some exercise while spending time with your child. Whether you’re a serious runner or a weekend walker, here’s what you need to know before buying.

What to look for

1. Front Wheel. Are you training for a marathon or walking on the weekends? Sticking to the road or hitting the mall too? Fixed wheels keep the stroller straight for serious joggers, while swiveling wheels offer more versatility and maneuverability.
2. Wheel Size. The bigger the wheel the smoother the ride and the easier it is to push over uneven terrain. Smaller wheels are more maneuverable, although the ride is bumpier.
3. Weight/Child Capacity. Some jogging strollers can safely accommodate children up to 70 pounds, while others can carry two or more passengers. How long do you plan to use the stroller and will you be using it with more than one child?
4. Safety. You don’t want a runaway stroller so look for reliable parking brakes, hand brakes and emergency parent wrist tethers.

I’ve used the BOB Revolution before and I love it! One thing that’s great is that it’s really easy to fold. On top of that it’s great quality.

Also if you look at some of the recommendations above jogging strollers can run you up to $500. Personally, I don’t have that much to spend on a jogging stroller nor do I think anyone should have to.

BOB can afford to price their jogging strollers at a reasonable price because they’re the most popular and they sell so many. I looked in the 2009 Baby Bargains Book where the Revolution got an A rating. That was one of the big selling points for me.
