Best Baby Bouncers

Best For: Baby

We’ll be upfront with you and admit, a baby bouncer isn’t one of those purchases you’ll use for years and years. Chances are, you’ll only use a baby bouncer seat for about the first six months, until your little one can sit up unassisted. But in those six months, the baby bouncer will be a lifesaver. Need to take a shower or do the dishes or just sit down for five minutes? Let us help you find the best baby bouncer and your baby will be perfectly content while you get in a little “me” time.

What to look for

1. Safety. Because bouncer seats are designed to, well, bounce, it’s incredibly important that the straps used to secure your baby are strong and durable. Test them to make sure you can adjust them easily and to ensure they lock or snap completely.
2. Features. Most bouncers seats vibrate, some play music and some come with a toy bar to keep kids occupied. It’s up to you to decide how much you want the seat to stimulate your little one. One note of caution, though: test out toy bars before you strap in your baby. If it falls downs when you swat at it, pass.
3. Comfort. Do you want your baby to sit straight up or to recline at more of an angle in his bouncer seat? Some seats offer extra padding or neck support, so be sure to explore your options based on your baby’s needs.

Best Overall Baby Bouncer

Baby Bjorn Babysitter Balance

Price: $200
Weight Limit: Up to 29 pounds
Get Yours: giggle.com

Pros: If you want to go back to basics, the Babysitter Balance from Bjorn has come out with an attractive, organic cotton bouncy seat that’s sleek and functional at the same time. Rather than batteries, it relies on an occasional tap to keep it going, and has three positions for baby’s comfort.
Cons: Given how simple the design of this bouncer is and how few features it has, this baby bouncer is quite expensive.

Best No-Frills Baby Bouncer

Inglesina mHome Loft Chair

Price: $90
Weight Limit: Up to 30 pounds
Get Yours: diapers.com

Pros: This stylish rocking lounger from Inglensina’s mHome collection skips frills to focus on a simple chaise lounge for a baby to relax. Admittedly, it might not be as fun for baby as some other ones on the market, but it does feature a four-position backrest, three point harness, on-off rocking motion, head cushion and ultimate comfort padding.

Cons: If you think your baby will need lots of stimulation and features to entertain him, this isn’t the best baby bouncer for you.

Best Baby Bouncer for Newborns

Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Bouncer

Price: $47
Weight Limit: Up to 25 pounds
Get Yours: Babyearth.com

Pros: This cozy bouncer from Boppy is a great choice for newborns and small infants. It has two positions, soothing vibrations, a removable toy bar, and an oversized, plush seat that looks so comfortable you’ll wish you could crawl in! And it’s not a million dollars, so if your baby doesn’t like it (it happens!), you’ll still have gotten your money’s worth just using it as a soft place to lay your baby for a few minutes.

Conss: While the seat does have a toy bar and play music, that’s as good as it gets in terms of features on this bouncer seat.

Best Swinging Baby Bouncer

Infantino Fold and Go Bouncer

Price: $49
Weight Limit: Up to 25 pounds
Get Yours: amazon.com

Pros: If you are looking for something between a swing and a bouncy seat, Saftey 1st’’s Swingtime Hammock should fit the bill. It has the gentle vibration and musical tunes or nature sounds for quiet time, and since you can manually swing the seat, it resembles a hammock to lull baby to sleep—but it also includes a rotating toy bar and with soft toys for entertainment. Also great for small spaces that don’t have room for a swing and a bouncer, or for travel.
Cons: Come and go anywhere and you can have your baby sit and rock with this easy to fold bouncer.
