Can you believe in just 16 short days 2011 will be over? If I’m honest, I can’t say that it’s flown by, but it’s definitely been a year to remember. From all the births in Hollywood to the revolutions in baby gear, there’s been so much to report.
To send off this incredible year, we’ll be recapping some of our favorite moments over the next two weeks. From the most surprising products bans and recalls to our favorite celebrity baby names, let’s get nostalgic. First things first, though–the best toys of the year.
Who doesn’t know about Leapfrog’s LeapPad Explorer? It’s been dubbed “the iPad for toddlers” so it shouldn’t be all that surprising that it sold out when it was first released in June and then again more than a month before Christmas. Your best bet to get one? eBay or wait until 2012 when stock is replenished.
Finally! A way to let your baby play with your iPhone or iPod Touch without running the risk of having it covered in drool. For that reason alone, Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Apptivity Case is nothing short of genius.
Barbie has always been a pretty clean cut gal, so when she showed up in October with tats, we were thrilled. Tokidoki designed Tattoo Barbie and not only is she inked–she’s got short, pink hair and is wearing leopard leggings. #love
If you live with a LEGO-maniac, then you already know all about the new martial arts-themed LEGO series, LEGO Ninjago. It was released back in January and it’s been a wild success ever since.
Another Barbie revolution that propelled the icon into the 21st century? Barbie Designable Hair Extensions! In a time when all the most popular celebs wear extensions and little girls are getting feather hair extensions of their own, we’re impressed with how quickly Barbie got with the times.
A microphone that instantly autotunes your voice? Sign me up! From the moment I first heard about the I Am T-Pain Microphone, I was convinced I needed one in my life. Not only can you jam, though. You can record your songs and share them with the world (or at least your Facebook friends).
Fisher-Price strikes again with a digital camera that features a swiveling lens so kids can take pics of themselves. Smart, huh? The See Yourself Camera also has an extra durable design to endure falls.
Hot Wheels are a classic, but this year they finally got a much-needed upgrade. Literally! Mattel has taken the cars off the ground and onto your walls with their awesome new Wall Tracks. They safely adhere to walls so your kid’s Hot Wheels can defy gravity.
