My son will be seven next week and he still has all his baby teeth. He does have this one loose tooth on the bottom, but it’s a stubborn little thing. It’s been wiggling and jiggling for a couple of weeks now, but it’s still hanging on.
So the question is, do we pull it or leave it alone? His dentist said to leave the tooth alone, but my husband and I are tempted to help it along. My son is a poor eater to begin with, so add this loose tooth issue? He really doesn’t want to eat!
But no matter how much we want to pull that sucker out, we’re going to follow dentist’s orders. I’m still curious, though…what do other parents do about those first loose teeth? I mean, when I was a kid, my dad tied some thread around my loose tooth and yanked it out of my mouth. I still get shivers thinking about it. And then there’s my husband, who took care of his loose tooth himself. He simply swallowed it in the middle of the night and that was that. He never found that tooth, but he still got a visit from the tooth fairy.
So tell us. How did your child lose his or her first tooth? Did you pull it out or leave it alone? Share your stories in the comments below.
