It’s September, which means summer is on its way out and fall is just around the corner. Whether your child already started school or will be heading back in the coming weeks, a new school year means new trends to stay on top of.
Lucky for you, we scouted all the stores and rounded up the five most popular trends you’re sure to see a lot of this school year. If you haven’t finished (or started) back-to-school shopping yet, be sure to add these pieces to your list.
Expect to see boys and girls alike in warm-toned plaids this fall. If you have a son, this OshKosh plaid shirt ($10) is a steal and so cute.
Another trend both boys and girls will be rocking? Skinny jeans. And for the girls, things get even skinnier with the rise of jeggings. Treat your daughter to these dark wash jeggings ($16) and have her pair them with short booties.
Gone are the days of rich reds, organes and yellows for fall. Instead, you’ll find lots of black clothing in stores–yes, even for little girls. This Sonny Munroe striped dress ($17) is a playful take on the trend that’s not too morbid.
Call it comeback–peace signs are everywhere. From peace sign backpacks to hip peace sign tees ($8) like this one, it’s like Woodstock all over again.
Seems like every ad campaign I’ve seen for back to school features a little boy in a hoodie. It makes sense sine they’re an ideal fall cover-up, so get your son this hip Shaun White 4 Target hoodie ($17).
