As soon as my daughter was old enough to finally ride in something other than her way-too-heavy full size stroller, I was on the hunt for a super lightweight umbrella stroller we could use for quick trips and traveling. Everyone I talked to recommended the Quinny Zapp because it was so light and easy to fold, but I was not into the $200 price tag. I had already shelled out enough for a stroller, I wasn’t paying that much for an umbrella stroller. So I went with the much less expensive Chicco Capri instead. And yes, I love it! I can easily lift it up and down the subway stairs and it’s so easy push.
What about you? Did you splurge on the Quinny or did you go with a cheaper pick?

I just couldn’t resist getting in on this discussion. As I see it, there are several advantages to having an umbrella stroller: They are inexpensive (I bought one for $6.00); they are light-weight and easy to navigate up and down store aisles; they’re great for airline travel; and they load and unload easily from car trunks, vans, etc.
The draw-backs are two: 1) They are less than comfortable for baby and 2) there is no place to store anything. You actually need to precariously hang a diaper bag on the handles, along with a purse.
Had I not created the amazing 6-in-1 TEND-A-TOT(tm), which is a diaper bag/travel tote with the ability to shape-shift – one feature being to up-grade an umbrella stroller to a functional, convenient and comfy carriage for baby, I probably wouldn’t have been so attached to umbrella stroller.
