Children's Shoes, Good Question

I was watching TV recently when I saw a commercial for Lelli Kelly Kids shoes. I didn’t pay much attention to the shoes at the time, but remember thinking girls were going to love them because each pair of shoes comes with a lip gloss and a cell phone case. It wasn’t until I was shopping for a pair of sandals for my daughter to wear on our upcoming vacation that I finally got a chance to see what the Lelli Kelly shoes actually look like.

First, the shoes are…colorful. Floral psychedelic is actually probably more accurate. The shoes are bedazzled and appliqued with beads, rhinestones and other embellishments in bright pinks, oranges, greens and red. Not exactly my style, but I can see little girls loving them.

What really got my attention, though, was the price. Infant mary janes for $69. Granted, all the embellishments are hand-sewn, but that’s what I pay for my own shoes. Take a look for yourself:

The Lelli Kelly shoes start at $24 for a pair slippers and go up to $120 for a pair of boots. Do you like the look of the Lelli Kelly shoes? More importantly, would you pay that kind of money for shoes for your daughter? Share your opinion in the comments.

  • I think it’s fun to have lots of colors on kids. They don’t get many opportunities to wear bedazzled psyche-florals when they’re older, so why not? That being said, I’ll stick to Lelly Kelly hand me downs, they cost far too much!

  • Lots of little girls in our area wear these — perhaps it’s even a status symbol here in Silicon Valley — but I won’t be buying my daughter a pair. The bedazzling is bound to come off, and she will outgrow them. And aren’t these made in China? I hope they pay the laborers enough to justify the high price tag, but I doubt it.
