Do Skinny Celebrity Moms Bug You or Inspire You?

On msnbc.com there was a story about how some women are responding to movie star moms like Nicole Richie, Halle Berry and US Weekly bikini-clad cover mom Trista Sutter (a.k.a. The Bachelorette) who drop their baby weight faster than Lance Armstrong dropped Kate Hudson.

One mom said she cancelled her subscription to a magazine because she was tired of seeing skinny celebmommies strutting on the red carpet just weeks after giving birth. Of course these women can afford personal chefs, trainers, and needless to say, at least one nanny, while they dedicate themselves to getting back in shape.

Experts like Suzanne Schlosberg, co-author of The Active Woman’s Pregnancy Log: A Day-by-Day Diary and Guide to a Fit and Healthy Pregnancy warns that this kind of weight loss can be unhealthy for new moms, especially if they’re nursing.

One way non-celebs can even the playing field is to get more sleep, which according to Harvard University, can speed up weight loss. I know, easier said than done, but even we non-celebrities can try to level the playing field by creating a more comfortable bed.

The story does offer another take on the skinny star mom, courtesy of a People Magazine staffer who insists that they are inspiring because they work so hard to lose their weight, encouraging women to do the same.  Check out this photo of Nicole Kidman TWO WEEKS after giving birth to her daughter Sunday, then tell us what you think.
