imageWhat: The Gifted Grasshopper

Why: If you love to read and plan to pass that love along to your children, you’ll be delighted by The Gifted Grasshopper.  Started by two moms, both former first grade teachers who “love sharing wonderful stories with children,” the site offers totes brimming with carefully selected books and fun accessories (including “Grasshopper Glasses”).

I’ll admit I was skeptical about letting someone choose books for my preschooler – mostly because I doubted that I would not receive at least one duplicate copy.  I’ve been an avid (ok, totally addicted, I admit it) reader ever since I can remember, and now that I have a daughter of my own, my repertoire of children’s books is truly vast.

But the bag we received far surpassed my expectations. Not only is the tote itself sturdy and charming (just in time for beach season!), and not only does my four-year-old daughter love the plush grasshopper puppet who came along to share the stories, but the books they chose were delightful and creative (and I had never heard of them!).

The signature totes are available for toddler through third graders and come in a variety of sizes.  The Gifted Grasshopper takes all the guesswork out of choosing a great birthday, shower, or “just-because” present.

Price: Starting at $25
