What: Top Five Tinted Moisturizers

Why: In the summer it’s enough just to lug the kids to the beach, but makeup? You gotta be kidding. Enter the tinted moisturizer.  Less than a foundation, which in summer (or really anytime) can be just way too much for some moms. Tinted moisturizer is the happy medium between foundation and moisturizer, with SPF coverage as an added bonus. Here are five we think rock not just for summer beauty, but all year long.

1. Aveda Tinted Moisture ($25): Because it’s Aveda, you get a heck of a lot of healthy botanicals in this puppy. The shades are plentiful, and the coverage is perfect. SPF 15.

2. Dr. Hauschka Toned Day Cream ($35.95): With the same benefits of Dr. H’s famous day cream, this has the added benefit of a slight tint for gentle coverage. Your skin will be supple all day.

3. LaMer Fluid Tint ($65): Yes, it’s wicked expensive, but those LaMer people know from good face cream. This is an SPF 18 tinted cream that slides on like silk and has the knack for diffusing light and making wrinkles look way less, well, there.

4. Clarins Moisture Quenching Hydra-Balance Tinted Moisturizer ($39): Clarins is très French, and it’s fun to use it just so you can feel très French, but the products are just spectacular. This tinted moisturizer is packed with skin loving moisture and smells divine and has just enough coverage.

5. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer ($40): Laura is famous for her tinted moisturizer (and other amazing beauty products), but this one really lives up to the hype. With SPF 20 and just enough color to look pretty, it’s no wonder it’s one a bunch of beauty magazine awards.
