imageWhat: Pettiskirts by Kaiya Eve Couture

Why: I never imagined it possible to improve on the tutu, but once you see your little girl in a Kaiya Eve Couture Pettiskirt, you’ll never go back.

Unbelievably cute and machine washable, who could ask for more?  The brainchild of LA-based designer and mom Kandi Lightner, the line started a few years ago as just a few one-off skirts made from vintage petticoats.  After pint-size starlet Dakota Fanning wore one to The Teen Choice Awards, the demand exploded, and the line has become a fave among celebrity parents like Faith Hill, Molly Shannon and Britney Spears (we’re not sure who she bought hers for!).

Mommies, be forewarned: Once your little girl puts one on, she won’t want to take it off.  The combination of fluff and ruffles and gorgeous colors creates a truly irresistible combination, and just about everyone who sees your daughter won’t be able to resist commenting.  My four-year-old insisted on wearing hers out to lunch the other day, and we happened to run into famous actress Margaret Colin (First Daughter), who declared, “Look at her ruffles!  She’s my hero!”

Price: $70 – $84
